One of the most formidable of challenges faces online and blended courses is to foster active and substantive discussion between students; online courses have the potential to be isolating and passive. Peer group discussion is one course structure that can be employed combat these potential pitfalls. In order to facilitate active engagement with course content, and promote the consideration of and dialogue on that content I developed the videos seen here as peer group discussion prompts for an online introductory astronomy course at Michigan State University.
